Welcome to our first post centered around ABC & 123's Prize Picnic! This is going to be a weekly blogging event that will be full of prizes and learning ideas so definitely check out this site. I have been reading this blog for just a few months and fell in love with it immediately- I love the wide variety of learning activities- I used to teach second grade before making becoming a stay at home mommy and so I eat up anything educational!A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
Since today is the first week, we are introducing ourselves to fellow bloggers! My name is Keri and I am married to the most wonderful, supportive guy. We have one sweet little BUSY tot we call "Boo". She is a joy to be with and I love teaching her new things every day!
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR BLOG
I have been blogging about our adventures since March (our family blog just wasn't the right platform for all my learning techniques and tricks). Since I love to teach and I stay at home, The Home Teacher just seemed like a simple and easy to remember name for this blog!
My passion for good books started me into making my daughter "mommy made" baby books about a year ago. I make at least one a month for her (and find myself making them for friends and family for great personalized gifts as well). This is just something I love to do and I feel that I am able to teach her new concepts with her own personalized book. It also helps that she LOVES books!
My Six Favorite Posts (in no particular order):
- GIMPing up your Blog (creating links in blog headers)
- Learning about.... Circles (I like this so much I need to do the other shapes as well)
- Montessori Color Tablets I spent a lot of time researching Montessori methods and learned a lot along the way!
- Muffin Tin Monday (Dancing with the Stars theme)
- Our Yellow Day (the first of many fun color days in our home!)
- The Nutritional Needs of a Toddler

Thanks for your great intro! I am excited to get to know you and will be a new follower of your blog. I too was a second grade teacher...pre kids:)
ReplyDeleteI love your momma made books. What a fantastic idea. I've got to go check out barebooks to order some blanks. I love that!
I love reading your blog, I've been following it for a while. You have great ideas, and I have your "GIMPing up your blog" post starred in my reader for the day when I make time to make over my blog!
ReplyDeleteI am having the hardest time with my blog makeover, that I out sourced and now that I see this tute I feel like I could've just done it all myself! I am so going to look into this! Thanks for linking up to our picnic!
ReplyDeleteKeri, if you plan ahead its only like a 11-13 hour drive from Utah (wait do you live in Utah? I thought I read something but when I looked on your profile it didn't say where you lived...scary!)..anyway assuming you.... I think it's totally worth the drive to come here JUST to watch Biggest Loser with me! ha ha

Nice to meet you. I love your posts about activity kits. You have inspired me to get some of my kindergarten stuff out of storage and make some kits of my own for my boys! Such a fun blog.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! I like your dancing with the stars muffin tin - we love the show; might have to try it.:)
ReplyDeleteWe love watching Dancing with the Stars too. I wish that I had seen your muffin tin during the season. That looks like fun. We're now getting into So You Think You Can Dance. My little one dances around too...it's so cute to watch. Glad to have seen your blog...I'm now a follower!
ReplyDeleteYou started your blog just about the same time I did. It looks fantastic. I absolutley love your homemade books. Right now I am posting on all the introduces from the picninc but I will be back to check them out more closely. I would love to make some for my kindergarten class.
